What happened

During a scheduled night refueling mission, the aircraft experienced a sudden loss of power due to an engine malfunction. In response to the mechanical failure, the pilot attempted to perform an emergency landing to secure the aircraft safely.

However, the flight became uncontrollable during the descent. The aircraft subsequently impacted a field situated approximately 3.5 miles northwest of Windsor. The accident resulted in nine fatalities among the crew members, while two others sustained injuries during the impact.

Findings

Official investigations into the accident concluded that the primary factor leading to the loss of control was an engine failure occurring while the aircraft was in flight.
