FlightFinder started as a way to search flights by aircraft type. The safety section grew out of the same instinct: the public record exists, but it is scattered across more than a hundred official authorities and written for investigators. We aggregate it, explain it, and never dress an estimate up as a fact.

A five-year occurrence window, weighted 60/40 between the operator and the aircraft type. Ten or more occurrences take a component to zero. Where we have no data, the component scores 1.0 and the interface says so — we never hide a gap behind a number.
The score is a summary of the public record. It does not model your specific airframe, crew, weather or route, and it is not a prediction. If you only remember one thing from this page: a two-point difference between two modern types is noise. The full arithmetic and its inputs are always one click away at methodology.

No. Every occurrence, every recommendation, and the score methodology are open to everyone. FlightFinder Pro pays for volume, history and export — never for access to the record.
A new occurrence appears in the feed once the authority publishes it. We do not speculate about probable cause while an investigation is open, and any plain-language summary is generated from the structured record and reviewed before it is marked indexable — see our Editorial Standards for the full process.
Because the alternative — scoring it poorly — would be an accusation we cannot support. A missing record scores as "no known occurrences" for that component and is labelled as such everywhere it appears, rather than being hidden behind a number.
Rarely. Turbulence injuries happen overwhelmingly to people who are not belted in. It is discomfort, not typically danger — we publish the forecast so you can plan when to stay seated, not to alarm anyone.
