What happened

During a nighttime final approach to runway 36 at France Field Airport in Colón, an aircraft struck treetops before crashing into a heavily forested region. The impact occurred approximately 1,200 meters before the aircraft could reach the runway.

Among the personnel on board, seven fatalities were recorded. Additionally, seven injuries were reported following the accident. The crash involved a crew of fourteen members, including various officers and enlisted personnel.
