What happened

During a climb phase immediately following departure from the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station (NAS), an aircraft lost control and impacted the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The accident occurred while the plane was ascending after its takeoff sequence.

There were ten fatalities among the occupants of the aircraft during the crash. The crew and passengers on board included four Lieutenants and six other individuals, all of whom perished in the accident.

Findings

The investigation into the event noted that the aircraft became uncontrollable while in flight. The primary factor leading to the loss of the aircraft was the loss of control during the climb.
