What happened
While performing a repositioning flight from Luton to Wolverhampton, the crew was transporting two representatives from the Dowty Group. The mission intended to transport passengers toward France. During the approach to the destination, the flight crew executed an initial missed approach because of unfavorable weather conditions. Following this, the aircraft climbed to 2,500 feet and attempted a second landing, which was also aborted.
During a third attempt to land at the airport, the aircraft descended to an insufficient altitude. The aircraft type struck the roof of a residential structure approximately 600 yards before reaching the threshold of runway 25. The impact caused a massive fire that consumed both the plane and the house. This accident resulted in two fatalities among the crew and one fatality of a resident inside the home. Additionally, two individuals on the ground sustained injuries.
Findings
Official investigations concluded that the crash was caused by an aerodynamic stall occurring at an altitude that left no opportunity for the pilots to recover the aircraft.
