During a scheduled flight operated for the Escadrille Aérienne de Recherche et de Sauvetage (EARS 99), an aircraft struck the terrain near Périllos. The mission had originated from the Toulouse-Francazal Airbase as part of a routine operational flight. While traveling north of Perpignan, the four-engine aircraft impacted the slope of Mt Lapalme.
