What happened
In March 1986, a twin engine airplane departed from Bogotá-El Dorado Airport, bound for Caranacoa. The flight was operated with a crew of two pilots and one passenger. During the mission, the aircraft landed at Venado-Isana, where it reportedly met with six members of the FARC.
Following this landing, the aircraft attempted to take off again but crashed during the initial phase of flight. The exact circumstances surrounding the departure are not fully documented. The wreckage of the plane was located by searchers in mid-March 1986.
Findings
The crash resulted in nine fatalities, accounting for everyone on board the aircraft, including the crew and the passengers involved at the landing site. While the specific mechanical or operational reasons for the crash remain unconfirmed, the incident occurred during the takeoff phase.
