ACR TAXI'S TOO CLOSE TO LTT. R WINGTIP STRIKES TAIL CONE.
Narrative
WHILE TAXIING S ON TXWY 'F' AT DFW ARPT MY ACFT R WINGTIP IMPACTED THE TAIL CONE OF A COMMUTER LTT STOPPED ON THE W SIDE OF TAXIWAY 32/'F' INTXN FACING W. THE LTT HAD TURNED R (W) ONTO TAXIWAY 32 BEHIND ANOTHER LTT ALSO HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 36R. AFTER OBSERVING HIS WBOUND TURN; I DIVERTED MY ATTN TO CONSTRUCTION VEHICLES WORKING BTWN TAXIWAY 'F' AND 'G' JUST S OF TAXIWAY 32. MY COPLT WAS REQUESTING NEW TKOF DATA VIA THE ACFT ACARS AND WAS THEREFORE HEADS DOWN IN THE COCKPIT UNTIL JUST PRIOR TO THE NOSE OF OUR ACFT PASSING THE LTT AS HE LOOKED UP. HE BROUGHT IT TO MY ATTN THAT SEPARATION OF OUR ACFT WOULD BE A PROBLEM AND I IMMEDIATELY SWERVED OUR ACFT TO THE L AND BEGAN BRAKING; BUT DID NOT ATTAIN SUFFICIENT SEPARATION. SEVERAL EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES THAT AFFECTED THIS INCIDENT WERE AS FOLLOWS: ATTN WAS DIRECTED INTO THE COCKPIT TO OBTAIN NEW TKOF DATA FOR 3 CHANGES IN DEP RWY DIRECTED BY TWR AND TO SELECT MAX PWR ON THE THRUST RATING COMPUTER DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF WINDSHEAR. ATTN WAS DIRECTED TO THE CONSTRUCTION VEHICLES LOCATED BTWN TAXIWAY 'F' AND 'G' JUST S OF TAXIWAY 32. RECOMMENDATION. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO 'STACK' MULTIPLE ACFT AT AN INTXN IN PREPARATION FOR TKOF. DO NOT SCHEDULE ARPT CONSTRUCTION NEAR THE DEP END OF A RWY DURING HIGH TEMPO OPS.
