CHARTER PLT HITS UNDERSIDE OF WING DURING TAXI. CONTINUES TO NEXT STOP.

Narrative

DURING PREFLT OF THE ACFT; AN OBSTRUCTION 3 FT HIGH (TELEPHONE CABLE BOX); WAS OBSERVED 6 FT IN FRONT OF THE L WING. I CONCLUDED THAT THE L WING WOULD CLR THE OBSTRUCTION BY AT LEAST 6 INCHES DURING TAXI. I CONTINUED THE PREFLT AND BOARDED THE 5 PAX FOR TOKSOOK BAY; AK. 5 FT AFTER THE TAXI ROLL BEGAN; AND DURING A TURN TO THE R UP A SLIGHT INCLINE; THE L MAIN GEAR STRUT SUDDENLY COMPRESSED. BEFORE BRAKING PRESSURE COULD BRING THE ACFT TO A COMPLETE STOP; THE WING CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE; BEFORE MENTIONED; OBSTRUCTION CAUSING SLIGHT DAMAGE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE L WING; FROM JUST BELOW THE LEADING EDGE; AFT APPROX 5 INCHES. I SHUT THE ENG DOWN; AND AFTER INSPECTION; CONCLUDED THE ACFT WAS AIRWORTHY. I CONTINUED THE FLT TO DILLINGHAM; AK ARPT; WHERE REPAIRS WERE MADE; AND PAX WERE TRANSFERRED TO ANOTHER ACFT FOR THE REMAINDER OF THEIR FLT. DUE TO PRESSURES FELT FOR SHORT GND TIME; I NEGLECTED TO MANEUVER THE ACFT BY HAND SO THAT THE OBSTRUCTION WOULD NOT PASS BELOW THE WING DURING TAXI. THE FLT SHOULD NOT HAVE CONTINUED. A CALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE COMPANY FOR ANOTHER ACFT TO BE SENT TO TRANSPORT THE PAX; AND A FERRY PERMIT OBTAINED FOR THE DAMAGED ACFT.
