SMA LANDS WRONG RWY.

Narrative

I WAS FLYING NW TO MKA FROM AZO ON A VFR XCOUNTRY. THE WX ENRTE WAS CAVU; AND EXPECTED TO REMAIN THAT WAY. THERE WERE NO SIGNETS OR NOTAMS FOR MKA. ABOUT 20 MN SE OF MKA I GOT THE CURRENT ATIS AND CALLED APCH. HE TOLD ME TO PLAN ON A L BASE FOR RWY 24. I FLEW AS INSTRUCTED UNTIL ON A L BASE FOR 24; WHEN THE TWR SAID THE WINDS HAD SHIFTED; AND ASKED IF I WOULD PREFER 18. I REPLIED THAT I WOULD AND HE CLRED ME TO LAND ON 18. THE DOWNWIND FOR 18 WAS NORMAL. AS I TURNED BASE; HOWEVER; I BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE MODERATE TO SEVERE TURB AND WIND SHEAR. DUE TO THE CAVU CONDITIONS; I KNEW IT TO BE CAT; BUT IT STILL ROLLED MY WINGS 30 DEGS AND PRETTY MUCH PUSHED ME ALL OVER. I HAD A GREAT DEAL OF TROUBLE MAINTAINING A HDG AND MY TARGET APCH SPD OF 65 KTS. AS A RESULT OF MY DISORIENTATION DUE TO THE TURB (AND MY IGNORANCE) I BECAME LINED UP ON FINAL FOR 14 WITHOUT REALIZING IT. I DIDN'T CHK MY HDG OR EVEN NOTICE THE RWY NUMBERS BECAUSE I PREOCCUPIED MYSELF WITH THE TURB. AFTER I LANDED ON THE WRONG RWY; THE TWR INFORMED ME OF MY ERROR; TO WHICH I APOLOGIZED. I AM WORKING ON MY COMMERCIAL/INST; AND I CAN'T BELIEVE I MADE A STUPID MISTAKE LIKE THIS. BELOW IS AN ARPT DIAGRAM SO YOU CAN GET AN IDEA OF THE APCH.
