Synopsis

C210 pilot reported an off airport landing due to fuel starvation. Reportedly; the pilot relied on fuel log entries which had errors rather than physically inspecting the tanks for actual fuel quantity.

Narrative

Third and last leg of the day. I was at ZZZ and the company just wanted to get enough fuel to get to ZZZ1. We reviewed what I thought I had in the tanks from my fuel logs and ordered the desired amount.Turned out that my fuel log had errors that compounded up to this point and I had less fuel than I originally thought when making fuel calculations for the last leg. This resulted in an engine failure due to fuel starvation. I was able to make a successful emergency landing in a field in a very congested area. 2NM north of ZZZ1. The plane suffered minimum damage and was not enough to be considered substantial damage. I walked away without any injury. What did I learn - I learned that I need to make sure I know exactly how much is in the tank and not rely solely on my fuel log calculations. I will make sure to find a way to stick the tanks or always fill up to a known quantity. This combined with my fuel logs; which I will continue to do; will help me to verify my math and be certain of exactly the quantity I have to start with.
