CLOSE PROX ACR MLG TAXIING AND A FUEL TRUCK BEING DRIVEN TO THE GATE.

Narrative

WHILE TAXIING TO GATE AT BOSTON LOGAN; OUT OF THE CORNER OF MY EYE I SPOTTED A FUEL TRUCK. I IMMEDIATELY CAME TO A STOP. HE HAD REACHED A POINT JUST AHEAD OF MY L WING. THE DRIVER WAS LOOKING AT ME. I TRULY BELIEVE HE HAD TRIED TO PLAY 'CHICKEN' WITH ME. HE WAS PROCEEDING ALONG A ROAD ACROSS THE RAMP AT AN ANGLE FROM MY REAR. I COULD NOT SEE HIM UNTIL THE LAST MIN AND STOPPED. WHY HE DID NOT STOP AND GIVE WAY WHEN HE SAW ME WAY BACK I DON'T KNOW. IT WAS EXTREMELY RECKLESS ACTION ON HIS PART. I RPTED IT TO GND CTL AND WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE GATE; A MASSPORT OFFICIAL WAS ON THE JETWAY AND SAID 'I UNDERSTAND YOU HAD A PROBLEM'. I TOLD HIM WHAT HAPPENED AND HE SAID 'I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT YOU WERE NOT FOLLOWING THE YELLOW LINE.' I IMMEDIATELY LEFT. I HAD HIM WILL OUT ON THE RAMP. I RETIRE IN 1 YR AND HAVE 33 YRS AIRLINE EXPERIENCE AND HAVE NEVER RUN INTO A SITUATION LIKE THIS -- GIVING WAY TO A TAXIING ACFT IS FUNDAMENTAL TO SAFETY AT ANY ARPT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 189302: IT SEEMED AS THOUGH THE DRIVER WAS DETERMINED TO STAY ON THE YELLOW PATH REGARDLESS OF THE CONSEQUENCES.
