Synopsis

EMB-505 flight crew reported autopilot failure followed by yaw damper failure at cruise. The flight crew elected to descend out of RVSM airspace and divert to make a precautionary landing.

Narrative

After a normal departure and climbing to assigned altitude of FL450 and passing through FL440 the crew noted a CAS Caution Message indicating a ' YD Fail' and 'AP Fail' with associated autopilot disconnect oral alert. After just a few seconds these CAS Messages disappeared. A few seconds later the 'YD Fail' 'AP Fail' CAS messages reappeared. The QRH 'YD Fail' and 'AP Fail' checklist were accomplished with ATC being advised of the situation. A request to descend below RVSM airspace was requested and granted by ATC. After further discussion; it was decided to divert to ZZZ by both crew members. After a normal departure and climbing to assigned altitude of 450 and passing through 440 the crew noted a CAS Caution Message indicating a ' YD Fail' and 'AP Fail' with associated autopilot disconnect oral alert.
