Synopsis

Captain reported a #2 BLEED Hot Light illuminated after take off. The flight crew then noticed that the cabin was not pressurizing correctly and elected to perform an air turn back and precautionary landing at departure airport.

Narrative

During takeoff the #2 BLEED HOT Caution light illuminated. Above acceleration height and outside of the critical phase of flight the checklist was accomplished. The caution light extinguished. The logbook review when receiving the aircraft indicated that it had multiple #2 BLEED HOT Caution lights a few day prior. I was going to contact Dispatch and Maintenance Control once above 10;000 feet MSL to discuss if they wanted the plane to return to SEA given the history of this issue. Before we reached 10;000 feet MSL we noticed that the cabin differential was not increasing; staying around 1.0 psi while the cabin altitude climbed towards 8;000 feet. The cabin pressure controller was in Auto and the FAULT light was NOT illuminated. We immediately requested lower with a turn to remain clear of the rising terrain. With this we were able to prevent the CABIN PRESS Warning from being triggered. The CABIN PRESS Warning light did not illuminate.Dispatch was contacted to apprise them of the situation and Maintenance control was consulted. In coordination with Dispatch we mutually agreed to return to SEA and the release was amended. After the Flight Attendants were briefed and the passengers notified we diverted back to SEA. On final approach the #2 BLEED HOT Caution once again illuminated; approximately 17 minutes after the one allowed reset. The flight concluded safely. Once the passengers were deplaned the crew got together and debriefed the event. We were fit to continue and fortunately another plane was available. No additional information required.
