Synopsis

Flight crew reported a Resolution Advisory on take off from parallel runways. The Captain assumed command and reduced the rate of climb until clear of the other aircraft.

Narrative

A caravan was cleared for takeoff on [Runway] XXR before we got cleared for takeoff on [Runway] XXL. Tower told him to be advised we were departing the parallel. As the FO (First Officer) rotated and just before calling positive rate call the caravan started a left turn directly into our departure path. At the normal climb rate we were on a course to hit. I gently pushed the nose over to arrest the climb and added a slight right turn to keep us from the caravan. The climb never stopped but was only about 5 to 7 degrees nose up to prevent a midair collision. No audible calls were given from GPWS. After we got to ZZZ1 we called the Tower and talked to the Controller who was on duty during the event. He said the caravan was going to ZZZ2 (it is NE of ZZZ) and was cleared on course. At that time the caravan started a left turn to 190. The Controller had no idea the caravan was going to make a left turn. He apologized for the mishap and no further events came from the flight. Misunderstanding between Tower and the caravans intentions for going to a field that is NE of ZZZ when departing off Runway XXR. When taking off with parallel departures and GA planes taking off wait until they are clear before departure. Keep an eye out for departure paths from GA aircraft.

Second reporter narrative

After being cleared to take off of Runway XXL out of ZZZ what looked to be a Cessna caravan had departed off of the parallel runway (XXR); and as I began my rotation and initial climb out the caravan turned left of a heading of approximately 190 directly into our flight path. It was at this time and at a radio altitude between 60-100 ft. RA that the Captain took the controls and arrested the ascent but did not stop the climb (between 5-7 degrees nose up) and made a slight right turn to avoid what would have been a midair collision. There were no callouts from the GPWS. After landing at ZZZ1 the Captain and I called the Tower and we were able to speak to the Controller who was on duty at the time of the event and he explained to us that he was confused about the direction of the caravan as he was cleared on course to ZZZ2 which is northeast of ZZZ; however as previously stated and confirmed by the Controller on Duty at the time of the event the caravan turned to a heading of 190. The Controller stated that he cleared the caravan 'on course' and again; the caravan turned left 190 directly into our flight path. There were no other issues or events for the remainder of the flight.Gross misunderstanding between the Controller and the Cessna caravan.When departing parallel runways and flying in proximity to GA aircraft; take off one at a time or wait until clear before departure.
