B737 Captain reported stabilizer trim switches failed on departure and a subsequent return to the departure airport.
Synopsis
B737 Captain reported stabilizer trim switches failed on departure and a subsequent return to the departure airport.
Narrative
I was Captain and Pilot Flying during this event. We departed from Runway XX in ZZZ. Shortly after rotation; I attempted to initiate a stab trim change via our yoke mounted elec trim switches. My elec stab trim switches had failed. I asked the First Officer to test his and they were inoperative as well. We requested to level at 10;000 and receive vectors to allow us to run the 'Stabilizer Trim Inoperative' checklist while utilizing manual trim. The checklist failed to restore operation of the stab trim switches. We elected to [request priority handling] due to the work load of running a non-normal checklist and due to it being a loss of a redundant flight control system. We complied with all instructions on the checklist and landed uneventfully on Runway XXL in ZZZ. Finally; we exited the runway and taxied to gate. Both Captain and First Officer Stab Trim switches remained inoperative throughout the duration of this event to include testing them again upon parking at the gate and returning the cutout switches to normal.
