Synopsis

Student Pilot reported a NMAC in the vicinity of Lake Stevens; WA.

Narrative

I am a student pilot and fly off S43/Harvey field airport. I was going to polish my maneuvers over Lake Stevens; namely ground reference one since ceiling was lower than comfortable for power-off stalls and such.I chose to practice s-turns at 2000 ft. MSL. Turned landing light on; did clearing turns and announced my intentions on 122.75 frequency that is used in the practice area. Right before actually starting the maneuver took a look at GPS and checked if there are any aircraft in the vicinity to look for and there were none. When I was halfway through the S-turn I started to make a second; upwind part of the turn when I noticed a low-wing aircraft (looking like LSA) 30 to 50 ft. above and about 150 ft. away; 3 o'clock; moving away from me to the south; I was headed eastbound at that point. I never heard their call; only heard calls out in Eatonville; Woodinville and Bellevue. The aircraft was on ADS-B; but due to paying attention to the maneuver I didn't watch closely for the traffic on the screen (Garmin Aera 660) and was relying on looking outside.Since I was moving perpendicular to their line of motion and we were moving away from each other I stopped the maneuver and recollected thoughts. Did clearing turns again. Zoomed out the GPS/ADS-B and proceeded with the flight with extreme caution.
