Synopsis
Local pilot at TSP reported the County designated mandatory traffic pattern direction to the south conflicts with the traffic pattern at Mountain Valley airport. The reporter stated other local pilots have reported traffic conflicts between these two airport patterns.
Narrative
Our concern here in the Tehachapi Valley are the two airports close together with traffic patterns that have been known to conflict with each other. TSP Tehachapi Muni has a South side Pattern and Mountain Valley Airport a Northern pattern. The airports are 2 miles apart. The traffic pattern for TSP is on its south side over the city; schools etc. When there is plenty of room to fly a north pattern; which is mostly over cow pastures. However the city; the sponsor; has interests in much development of the north side; and knows the Kern County ALUCP (Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan) would curtail such if pattern was moved to north side. We had a stall spin accident into a town building in the past. Pilot killed but luckily no fire. I also have information from one of the sailplane tow pilots from the other airport; Mountain Valley; L94 addressing his many encounters with aircraft in the pattern at TSP. Pilots here have had no interest for this problem from the City of Tehachapi; we would like the FAA to look into this safety concern.
