Synopsis

First Officer reported concerns over maintenance procedures that did not appear to follow established practices during preflight and post flight walk arounds and items entered into the aircraft log book.

Narrative

On preflight walk around; I found that tire number 15 brake indicator had broken away from the brakes. Also there was broken safety wire on the tire 15 torque sensor cannon plug. On tire number 2 there was an active hydraulic leak from a brake puck. I showed a Mechanic these issues and he said he would call his Supervisor. I conducted my main deck inspection; when they came back up they said the leak was not a problem; that they would fix the safety wire and look at the brake wear indicator. Prior to closing the L1 door they informed us that the brake wear indicator rod was reconnected and they hydraulic leak within limits and not leaking; even though the ground; tire and brakes were wet with fluid. The flight was uneventful; on my post flight walk around I decided to check the brake wear indicator to see if it had remained attached. I found the brake wear indicator had been pull away from the brakes and the safety wire was not fixed. This makes me doubt their investigation of the hydraulic leak on the number 2 brake assembly. Part of the cause falls back to me; I informed Maintenance about the deficiencies on the plane but I did not put it in the logbook. I got complacent that they would do their job; and the fact that a lot of the time by the time I am done with the walk around the Mechanic has physical possession of the logbook. I have learned my lesson to write up every defect or ensure that it has been written up as I am required to. This gave the Mechanic a way to dodge working on the aircraft.
