Narrative

CLRED FOR A VISUAL TO RWY 17L TO FOLLOW AN ACFT LNDG ON 17R. HAZY CONDITIONS LOOKING INTO SUN TO KEEP VISUAL CONTACT WITH PARALLEL TFC WE WERE TO FOLLOW AND STAY BEHIND. AS FLT ENGINEER COMPANY REQUIRES I MAKE A BRIEF ANNOUNCEMENT TO PAX ABOUT PARALLEL TFC IF IT IS CLOSE AND CAN BE SEEN BY OUR PAX. ALL CREW WAS TRYING TO KEEP THE PARALLEL TFC IN SIGHT. ABOUT THE TIME I HAD FINISHED MAKING MY ANNOUNCEMENT THE CAPT CALLED FOR GEAR DOWN LNDG CHKLIST. IN THE FLARE; APCH TOLD US CLRED TO LAND CONTACT TWR ON ROLLOUT. WE CONTACTED TWR ON ROLLOUT THEY RECLRED US TO LAND AND GAVE US TAXI INSTRUCTIONS. IN RETROSPECT APCH NEVER TOLD US TO CONTACT TWR OR A POINT TO CONTACT TWR AS THEY OFTEN DO (SUCH AS THE OM). I THINK AN ADDITION TO THE CHKLIST SUCH AS LNDG CLRNC...RECEIVED; WOULD HAVE REMINDED US TO DO SO. ALSO A VISUAL IN GOOD WX BUT HARD TO SEE CONDITIONS (TRYING TO MAINTAIN VISUAL WITH AN ACFT IN HARD TO SEE CONDITIONS; TRY TO MAINTAIN VISUAL WITH AN ACFT IN THE SUN) TOOK AWAY PART OF ALL OF OUR FOCUS ON WERE WE CLRED TO LAND. ALSO I WILL MAKE MY ANNOUNCEMENTS ABOUT PARALLEL TFC MUCH EARLIER AS TO FOCUS ALL MY ATTN ON THE APCH AND LNDG PHASE OF THE FLT.
