Pilot flying military trainer reported NMAC with 737 aircraft.
Synopsis
Pilot flying military trainer reported NMAC with 737 aircraft.
Narrative
While performing aerobatics in my biplane between ZZZ and ZZZ1 I completed a loop and turned from south to north and began my climb back to altitude. I was straight and level between 5;000 ft. MSL and 5;500 MSL when front cockpit pilot screamed as a Commercial 737 was co-altitude crossing from right to left. [The] Commercial aircraft performed a hard right turn to north (although it was too late at that point); I aggressively dove aircraft. I was unable to avoid the 737's jet wash; which put me sideways; but not too bad (could have been much worse had the 737 had its engine up). The 737 pilot called ZZZ Approach; I was monitoring the frequency and also spoke to Approach Control.Lessons learned. I could have checked in with Approach Control; but I normally don't because [first] I am not required to; and [secondly] with the open cockpit its hard enough to hear them; especially if they are in a bad mood or are busy. In the future I will buy a helmet/mask so I can always check in with ZZZ Approach prior to aerobatics.
