Synopsis

Air Carrier flight crew reported a temporary fume event during cruise. The 'electrical burning' odor dissipated and flight continued to destination with no additional issues.

Narrative

We were going through some weather and began smelling something that smelled like electrical burning. We donned our O2 masks; established communication between us pilots on the overhead speaker (which includes comm radio); and then rang the FA (Flight Attendant) to make sure she was ok; and to see if she could smell it too. She could smell it; but only at the forward part of the aircraft; most likely seeping out from around the flight deck door. PIC (Pilot in Command) and I began troubleshooting some potential causes (checking the fluids; elec pages; etc.) since we were not getting any EICAS messages. The smell dissipated. We hadn't had a call in awhile; we checked with the Controller to make sure we were still with him. He passed us to another Controller; and as soon as we checked on; that Controller sent us to another one leading us to believe we missed a handoff. We had the communications on speakers like we're supposed to when using O2. Attention was focused on flying the plane and speaking with our FA ensuring her safety and trying to get as much info as possible about what she was experiencing; while we were trying to figure out where it was coming from.
