Synopsis
Air carrier Flight Attendant reported a Gate Agent gave incorrect information to passengers about gate checked bags containing Lithium battery powered devices and spare batteries during boarding. Flight Attendant escorted passengers to remove Hazmat items from gate check bags prior to departure.
Narrative
Ticket Agent told passengers they may leave lithium batteries; Spare batteries; PC's et cetera in color X tag checked bags. Passenger1 removed her laptop and two spare lithium batteries. Passenger2 removed his Laptop and Passenger3 removed a tablet. I notify the PIC (Pilot in Command). Immediately these Passengers were escorted back to the ramp with the Gate Agent and these devices were removed from the luggage. This did not cause a delay and I apologized the passengers for the missed communication they received from the gate agents. I asked prior to the Gate Agent leaving if anyone else needed to grab their bags to removed anything else. It was just those 3 passengers. The Gate Agent left and we proceed with our duties. Please train staff a little better. This is a Hazmat and it places a huge risk the entire aircraft; passengers and crew! They are also supposed to ask prior to placing the color X ticketed on the bags before allowing the passengers to walk down the jetway. We are trusting them to do their jobs correctly. If they have any questions they may always reach to the FAs (Flight Attendants) but please don't give pax false information.
