Air carrier Captain reported taxiway marking issues at ELP airport led to confusion during taxi out.
Synopsis
Air carrier Captain reported taxiway marking issues at ELP airport led to confusion during taxi out.
Narrative
Prior to pushback we reviewed the NOTAMs for the taxiway closures and determined that according to the closures there was no way to taxi off the ramp to the runway. We figured there must be a mistake so we asked ground which taxiway routing we could expect to get to Runway 22 and they told us to expect [Taxiways] K2; J; R1. R1 was not depicted on any of our ground charts and there was no temporary 10-8 construction chart for reference either. The Ground Controller explained that R1 was replacing K1 and should have signage showing the change. After pushback we requested taxi clearance and were given R1; J; J1. Different than previously expected due to the fact that K2 was under construction. Again; J1 was not depicted anywhere on the ground charts so we asked for clarification and he told us J1 is the new taxiway replacing K2 all the way to the end of Runway 22. Due to the confusion we asked for progressive taxi and were told to 'get to Runway 22 any way you can then tell us how you got there'. As we taxied; I informed the Ground Controller and confirmed each turn with the associated taxiway signage to get to Runway 22. Cause - NOTAMs; construction; Jeppesen taxi diagram all in disagreement with actual signage and ground controller instructions.Suggestions - Publish a 10-8 with new taxiway designations and replace taxiway signage in accordance with new taxi designations.
