ACR MLG TRACK HDG DEV AND ALTDEV AT THE START OF ILS APCH INTO OKC.

Narrative

WE WERE DEVIATING AROUND MANY HVY TSTM CELLS TO GET TO THE LOC FOR 35R OKC. FO WAS FLYING THE ACFT. WE WERE BEING VECTORED TO START THE APCH OVER THE MARKER; AT OUR REQUEST DUE TO THE WX. AT THE MARKER; AS WE TURNED TO INTERCEPT AND STARTED THE DSCNT; THE FO WAS SLOW TO CORRECT BACK TO THE COURSE. THE CORRECTION GOT US BACK TO COURSE BUT I'M AFRAID WE HAD A MOMENTARY FULL SCALE DEFLECTION TO THE L. WE LANDED OKAY WITHOUT ANY CTLR COMMENT. I'M CERTAINLY AT FAULT FOR NOT ASKING THE FO IF HE WAS COMFORTABLE ATTEMPTING THIS APCH OVER THE MARKER. I'VE DONE IT MANY TIMES IN SITUATIONS SUCH AS THIS. HE'S ONLY BEEN IN THE ACFT 6 MONTHS. SECONDLY AT THE POINT THAT I SAW THE FULL SCALE DEFLECTION; REGARDLESS OF THE FACT THAT WE HAD A GOOD INTERCEPT BACK TO COURSE AND WERE ONLY 1/2 DOT LOW ON THE GS; I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THE ACFT AROUND. IN SPITE OF OR BECAUSE OF CRM; I GUESS I WAS TRYING TOO BE TO LAID BACK WITH A NEW GUY. I APOLOGIZED TO THE FO FOR PUTTING HIM IN A SITUATION THAT HE MAY NOT HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCED ENOUGH TO HANDLE. PLUS WE TALKED ABOUT GOING AROUND IN QUESTIONABLE SITUATIONS. FATIGUE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A FACTOR. POOR JUDGEMENT IN PRESSING A NONSTABILIZED APCH IN BAD WX WAS THE OVERRIDING FACTOR. CONFESSION HELPS TO CLEANSE THE SOLE. THANKS FOR LISTENING.
