Synopsis
EMB-145 First Officer reported the aircraft was hit by lightning while enroute to destination.
Narrative
While approaching the weather from the east; we could see the weather which appeared to be non-threatening and only rain. Radar was painting light-moderate rain with a very small section of heavy. The heavy band appeared to only be 1-2 miles wide. As we navigated; making small deviation to the left; we experienced a flash and heard a loud boom. At this time; it appeared we were struck by lightning. All displays became discolored (magnetized); and there was a brief moment where the EICAS displayed many messages. As time passed; the messages started to go away quickly. It was almost as if doing a hard reset and then starting again. #1 engine initial indications appeared to roll back; but after the CPU's stabilized; we were able to determine that all systems were normal. We alerted ATC; notified the Flight Attendants and passengers of the issue and the fact that all systems were normal; and we continued to ZZZ. Notifications to Maintenance Control via ACARS was done. Upon post flight inspection; we observed that the entry point was along the left side near the #1 pack vent and the exit point was observed on the right-side trailing edge of the elevator. Coordination with Maintenance control pictures and write-ups were then made.
