Synopsis

ZME Controller reported ongoing radio problems at a specific sector making it difficult to talk to aircraft.

Narrative

Over the last several months; the frequency for sector 42; 125.85; has been deteriorating to the point that we can no longer hear aircraft calling at certain altitudes. As I worked the sector on Date; I made a list of 3 aircraft that I couldn't talk to. I know that the aircraft were trying to reach me because other aircraft informed me that another aircraft was trying to get a hold of me. This is not a one time event; but rather this problem has been ongoing for months; and numerous reports have been made to supervisors and tech ops; but nothing is being done to resolve the problem. The problem area seems to be around 40 miles west of GHM between the altitudes of 030-120. We get numerous BNA arrivals coming in above FL240 and can hear them just fine. Because we can't talk to aircraft at lower altitudes; this creates a serious safety risk; and I feel that this unsafe situation will eventually lead to something disastrous.Recommendation - Either the frequency needs to be properly repaired; or a new one installed.
