Synopsis

Gulfstream V Captain reported activation of the cabin smoke evacuation valve triggered the pressurization emergency descent mode.

Narrative

On the flight from ZZZ to ZZZZ1 on Day 0 I was a pilot flying and a PIC. About an hour and a half from destination at FL470 on course between ZZZZZ and ZZZZZ1 in cruse the cabin aid came to the front and asked for help with smoke evacuation valve; she had burned some cookies in the oven and smoke was coming out. After we checked with the checklist I went to the back and followed a standard smoke evacuation procedure. I opened valve for about two seconds; everything was fine and smoke was gone; but once cabin aid opened oven to let it cool; a lot of smoke came out and I opened valve again. At that time I heard that FO (first officer) is calling me to the front and once I made it upfront I saw that plane entered an EDM (emergency descent mode) due to cabin pressure drop; plane was descending and turning to the left as it was designed to do. Were I immediately took it of the autopilot; climbed and turned back on course as cabin pressure stabilized. ATC gave us a different frequency for the second radio; and on that freq. asked if we need any assistance. Once I stated that everything is fine; airplane is back on course and altitude; and everything is stabilized; ATC gave us a direct to ZZZZ1. Flight continued uneventful and landed safely at ZZZZ1.
