ACFT X NON ADHERENCE TO ATC CLRNC UNAUTHORIZED RWY ENTRY. PLTDEV. SITUATION: NUMEROUS RWY INTRUSIONS AT ABQ DUE TO INADEQUATE TAXIWAY RWY MARKINGS SIGNS.

Narrative

THIS NARRATIVE COVERS 3 RWY INCURSIONS BY TAXIING ACFT AND A NEAR INCURSION AS WELL. 1) A SUPVR WAS TRAINING A DEVELOPMENTAL ON GND. AN ACFT WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAXI FROM FBO TO RWY 8. THIS TAXI RTE REQUIRES NO RWY XING. THE PLT OF THE ACFT MISSED THE PROPER TAXIWAY (D) TO RWY 8; INSTEAD THE ACFT TAXIED ACROSS ANOTHER ACTIVE RWY (12). THIS OCCURRED DURING VFR DAYLIGHT HRS. THE GND CTLR AND TRAINEE WERE BUSY RESOLVING A CONFLICT 180 DEGS AWAY FROM WHERE THE ACFT CROSSED RWY 12 WITHOUT A CLRNC. 2) LATER; AFTER DARK; 2 SEPARATE; BUT IDENTICAL INCURSIONS ACROSS RWY 12 OCCURRED WITH ANOTHER GND CTLR WHILE HE WAS ALSO BUSY RESOLVING POTENTIAL CONFLICTS 180 DEGS AWAY FROM THE INCURSIONS. 3) ALSO; THIS WRITER HAD TOLD AN LTT JET TAXIING FROM FBO TO TAXI TO RWY E VIA 'DELTA' TAXIWAY; WITH EXPLICIT TAXI INSTRUCTIONS ON WHERE TO ENTER 'DELTA' TAXIWAY. I GOT DISTRACTED TO THE 'ALPHA' TAXIWAY NE OF THE TWR BECAUSE OF TFC THERE. WHEN I LOOKED BACK TO CHK THE LTT PROGRESS; IT HAD MISSED DELTA TAXIWAY AND NEARLY ENTERED RWY 12 WITH AN ACFT ABOUT TO ROLL FOR TKOF ON RWY 12. THIS WAS DURING DAYLIGHT HRS. I WAS ABLE TO TELL THE LTT TO STOP IN TIME. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THERE WAS A 3 WK STUDY DONE LAST SPRING HERE AND WE EXPERIENCED OVER 50 INCURSIONS OR NEAR INCURSIONS WHICH WERE STOPPED BY ALERT CTLRS. THE PROBLEM IS RWY/TAXIWAY MARKINGS; LACK OF VISUAL CONSPICUOUSNESS SUFFICIENT TO DIFFERENTIATE FROM A COCKPIT THE DIFFERENCE BTWN TAXIWAY AND RWY INTXNS AT ABQ WHERE TAXIWAYS C; D; AND B ALL INTERSECT NEAR THE RWY 12/30 AND 17/35 COMMON INTXNS. RECOMMEND INSTALLATION OF COLOR LINES AND COLOR CENTERLINE REFLECTORS ON TAXIWAYS.
