Air carrier flight crew reported a ground conflict with another aircraft during taxi.
Synopsis
Air carrier flight crew reported a ground conflict with another aircraft during taxi.
Narrative
Taxiing out of DFW terminal toward spot XX DFW Ground Control cleared us to exit the spot onto Taxiway Kilo and take the bridge route to 18L. The view to the right is somewhat obstructed as you're going to spot XX. As soon as I had a clear view of an aircraft approaching from the right I realized we did not have adequate time to pull out in front of them and they were not slowing or yielding to our entrance onto to K taxiway.I made a fairly quick but necessary stop. The initial braking action was jerkier than normal because we had a warm wheel brake from earlier that was 'grabby' as they say.I called the Flight Attendants and they said they were all fine to continue. 2 hours later inflight during a cockpit bathroom break and later after the flight they mentioned to me they had been standing doing the demo when I stopped. It had caused 2 of them to step back a few steps and grab seat backs to keep their balance. One mentioned their back muscles hurt a little and the other said a shoulder was starting to bother her.We were new to the Ground frequency so we did not hear instructions given to the approaching aircraft we stopped for. We were just following our instructions until we noticed the conflict. I will speculate that the controller did not initially see a conflict when he cleared us. We were slow moving and the other aircraft had picked up speed.Usually controllers include who is giving way to who. We only received taxi to 18L via the bridge route.
