Synopsis

CE-525 pilot reported engine failure inflight. Flight crew diverted to nearby airport and landed.

Narrative

At FL220 and 275 KIAS ZZZ advised to descend and maintain 5000 ft. Altitude was set in the alt alerter and VS command selected and set for 1500 FPM descend. While I began to pull back on the throttles I stopped at/or around 81% N1. However the right engine indicator showed the #2 N1 and Interstage Turbine Temperature continued to decrease until we received a MASTER CAUTION and MASTER WARNING associated with the #2 engine flame out. I requested my First Officer (FO) to acknowledge the warnings; called for the abnormal checklist; advise ZZZ Center of the issue; [requested priority handling] and requested a level off altitude of FL200 and present heading. We conducted the appropriate checklist; decided to conduct a precautionary shutdown of the #2. After that; we requested to divert to ZZZ for better Airport Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) options; our passenger was briefed on the nature of the [problem] and remain calm until we landed. We landed uneventful at Runway X; ARFF approached us and conducted a 360 inspection; they advised that no visual abnormalities we're found. We taxied to the FBO under our own power; passenger deplaned and we conducted a normal post flight.Unable to detect or anticipate.
