Synopsis

Light aircraft pilot reported an NMAC with another light aircraft on final approach to PHF.

Narrative

I was a student pilot solo conducting full stop taxi backs for Runway 7 at PHF. I was on my 3rd and final lap in the pattern when the event occurred. I was in the left downwind for Runway 7 instructed to follow an Aircraft Z in the pattern. I reported them in sight and was cleared to land behind them. Around this time an Aircraft Y in the right downwind was issued traffic on me. The Aircraft Y reported traffic in sight and the controller instructed them to follow behind me. When I was on a 1/2 mile final descending out of 600 ft.; I heard the controller key up and ask the traffic that was following me to verify that they had me in sight. At that moment I looked out to the side and I saw the traffic same altitude less than 200 ft. horizontally off my right. I immediately conducted a climbing right turn to avoid the traffic. I notified the Controller of the action I was taking and was instructed to continue north bound. Moments later I was instructed to turn base and I then was cleared to land and landed without incident.
