PLT OF SMA OBTAINED WX RPT OF ICING AND PIREPS BUT TOOK OFF ANYHOW; IN IMC. OBTAINED IFR CLRNC; CONTINUED; ENCOUNTERED ICING; HARD LNDG AT DEST.

Narrative

NO FAA WX BRIEFING FLEW INTO IFR CONDITIONS WITH NO FLT PLAN FILED. NO WT AND BAL DONE. FLEW INTO KNOWN ICING CONDITIONS. I LOOKED AT WX SYS COMPUTER; SAW DEST 10 MI; 9 OVCST; DEP ARPT 12 OVCST 10. I SAW 1 PIREP FOR ICING 3 HRS BEFORE MY DEP. I TOOK OFF AND ENCOUNTERED THE CLOUD BASE AT 1500 MSL. I CALLED MSP DEP FOR A VFR CLB TO ON TOP. I WASN'T ON TOP BY 8000 AND REQUESTED AN IFR CLRNC TO ILL. I RECEIVED A CLRNC AND STARTED TO ICE SHORTLY AFTER. I SHOULD HAVE RETURNED TO FCM; BUT CONTINUED TO ILL. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN TRAINED IN FLYING WITH ICE. THE ICING HELPED CAUSE A STALL WHILE LNDG. THE LNDG WAS HARD. I WAS IN A HURRY TO BEAT A SNOW STORM TO ILL. I FAILED TO REALIZE ICING RPTS SHOULD NOT BE IGNORED BECAUSE THEY ARE A FEW HRS OLD. I DIDN'T THINK OF HOW ICE WOULD ALTER FLT CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SMA ACFT. I ASKED THE TWR CTLR IF THERE HAD BEEN ANY ICING PIREPS. THE TWR SAID THERE HAD BEEN NUMEROUS RPTS. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN OFF. THE PIREP I SAW READ TRACE RIME ICE. I SHOULD HAVE REALIZED A TRACE COULD BUILD TO MODERATE OR EVEN SEVERE DEPENDING ON HOW LONG THE FLT IS.
