Narrative
This incident happened on Day 0. My family is visiting Las Vegas that night. I walked on Las Vegas Boulevard before the incident; and saw all the performances that the hotels had. I wanted to fly the drone that night over the boulevard and capture one of the performances from the sky. When I arrived at my hotel; without asking for permission from the county; the city; the owner of the hotel owner; I took off from the parking lot and flew over to the boulevard. The drone lost video signal while flying at a distance of 800m; so I ascended to 1;000 ft. altitude in order to regain video signal. It was at this point; an officer arrived where I was flying and told me I wasn't allowed to fly anywhere in Las Vegas. I informed the officer that I had obtained authorization in the drone app to fly; but that wasn't enough; so he took my FAA drone registration permit and ID to record it in their system. I recognize that I should've done more research before the launching the drone; and that I needed to have obtained permit from the airport within 5 miles; the owner of the property; city; and the county to fly in any area. Overall; it was my fault that this event happened; I am glad that no significant damage and incidents occurred during this operation. I will learn from this incident and help my friends to learn what I did wrong here.
