Narrative
Upon touching the ground on Runway XX at ZZZ applied the brakes too hard and blew my right main tire. I held the airplane on the runway as long as I could until the blown tire forced me to exit left into the grass which ended in me running over one runway side marker light. There were no injuries and I was the only one at the field at the time. The wind was a calm direct crosswind which did not favor either runway. I believe what caused the issue was my over application of the brakes. I ultimately called flight services to have them close the airport and have to help me tow the airplane to the ramp. The only damage sustained was the blown tire on the plane and the runway light at the airport. I gave all of my information to the Airport Manager. My Instructor was notified asap after the incident. To correct the issue I tried my best to keep the airplane stable and on the runway as much as possible. To learn from the experience my Instructor has setup a time for us to discuss the situation in depth and to train me on how to react if I ever have a blow out in a plane again.
