Narrative

I WAS THE CAPT ON FLT DCA-ORD. DURING PREFLT AN FAA INSPECTOR CAME TO THE COCKPIT AND STATED HE WOULD BE RIDING IN THE JUMPSEAT AND GIVING US A CHKRIDE ENRTE TO ORD. I ASKED TO SEE HIS CREDENTIALS. I ASKED IF HE WAS A RATED PLT ON THIS ACFT. HE SAID NO. I ASKED IF WERE A PLT. HE SAD NO. HE THEN REVEALED HIS MAINT STATUS. I THEN POINTED OUT OUR ACFT LOGBOOKS AND ASKED HIM IF HE REQUIRED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THE OXYGEN OR COM SYSTEMS AT HIS STATION. HE TOOK SOME NOTES ENRTE. DURING DSCNT WE HAD AN ENG BLEED VALVE MALFUNCTION AND WENT THROUGH OUR QRH PROC. WE DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE FAA INSPECTOR ASKED TO SEE OUR LICENSES AND MEDICAL CERTIFICATES. THE COPLT SHOWED HIS BUT I EXPLAINED THAT MINE WERE IN MY JACKET HANGING AT THE REAR OF THE FLT DECK BUT I WOULD GET THEM AFTER FLT ARR. AT THE GATE AT ORD; HE AGAIN ASKED TO SEE MY LICENSE AND MEDICAL. I STATED I WOULD COMPLETE THE PARKING CHKLIST; COMPLETE THE LOGBOOK ENTRIES; AND THEN DISPLAY THEM. HE THEN EXITED THE COCKPIT. I ASSUMED HE WOULD WAIT FOR ME IN THE FORWARD GALLEY OR ON THE JETBRIDGE. WHEN I LEFT THE COCKPIT; THE FLT ATTENDANTS SAID THE FAA INSPECTOR ASKED TO GET HIS BELONGINGS; WHICH WERE STORED IN THE PAX CABIN; HELD UP PAX DEPLANING; AND THEN EXITED. HE STOPPED AT THE GATE AGENT DESK TO ASK WHERE HIS CONNECTING GATE TO CALIFORNIA WAS AND WHAT MY NAME WAS. SHOULDN'T THE FAA INSPECTOR JUST INTRODUCE HIMSELF AS A MAINT INSPECTOR AND NOT PRETEND HE IS AN AIR CARRIER FLT INSPECTOR? SHOULDN'T HE HAVE WAITED TO SEE WHAT I PUT IN THE MAINT LOGBOOK AND ALSO SEE MY LICENSE AND MEDICAL?
