Narrative
RWY 8R-26L AT HNL WAS CLOSED AS PER NOTAM. TKOFS AND LNDGS IN PROGRESS ON RWYS 22L/R AND RWY 26R. ACR X CLRED FOR A VISUAL APCH FOR RWY 26R AT HONOLULU WITH MIN SEPARATION FROM ACR ACFT IN FRONT OF US. TWR INSTRUCTED US TO REMAIN OFF SHORE UNTIL TURNING FINAL (SOP FOR NOISE). AS OTHER CREW MEMBERS MONITORED THE TOUCH DOWN AND ROLL OUT OF THE ACFT IN FRONT OF US ON 26R. I TURNED FINAL AT APPROX 400-500 FT AGL (REQUIRED FOR THE LDA-DME OR VISUAL APCHS TO RWY 26R). AS I ROLLED OUT ON FINAL (200-300 FT); I HEARD THE TWR INSTRUCT ANOTHER ACFT TO 'FLY THROUGH THE INTXN AND LAND LONG.' I THEN OBSERVED AN SMA Y XING THE THRESHOLD OF RWY 22L AND FLY THROUGH THE INTXN OF 232L AND 26R AHEAD OF OUR ACFT. AT 100-200 FT AGL; I INITIATED A GAR. OUR ACFT PASSED WITH 500 FT OF SMA Y. IN THESE 'UNUSUAL' CIRCUMSTANCES; RWY 26L-8R CLOSED; AND WESTERLY WINDS; HONOLULU TWR ATTEMPTS TO MAINTAIN RELATIVELY NORMAL TFC FLOW BY HAVING HVY JETS LAND ON 26R WHILE LIGHT ACFT LAND ACROSS 26R ON THE 22 RWYS. IRRESPECTIVE OF THE TFC CONFLICTS; THE PROC REQUIRES LIGHT ACFT TO LAND ACROSS THE WAKE OF HVY JETS ON THE CROSS RWY. THE SITUATION IS HAZARDOUS AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED WITH SPECIAL PROCS.
