Synopsis

First Officer reported the displaced threshold area at ADS airport was difficult to identify because the cones are so small.

Narrative

We were cleared to land and told about the workers on the runway. Tower noted the runway was shortened; but when they mentioned the displaced threshold; there was no mention that a new displaced threshold was marked by cones. The NOTAMs also did not note that the threshold was marked by cones. The cones were very small and difficult to see until approaching the displaced threshold painted on the runway. By the time I was rounding out; I could see the cones. Lightly touched the wheels on the runway and was able to maintain back pressure and clear the cones making the full landing past the cones. I think miscommunication between pilots and Tower could have been avoided by us asking for further clarification on how the displaced threshold was marked. Much larger cones could help pilots see where the temporary threshold is. Using verbiage like 'temporary threshold marked by orange cones' could have helped. I have seen temporary displaced thresholds painted onto the runway; so using 'displaced threshold' without explaining further can lead to confusion.
