Synopsis

B777 flight crew reported receiving an EICAS message for low tire pressure shortly after takeoff. The flight crew consulted with maintenance and decided a return to the departure airport was appropriate.

Narrative

Shortly after take-off; EICAS message Tire Press. #7 Main tire showed low pressure and continued to drop. We contacted dispatch and connected with maintenance control. They both advised it was Captain's discretion to continue or not. After consulting with the crew; we decided to continue and notified dispatch. Shortly after; we received an ACARS message: So now the company/maintenance says if the tire blows in ZZZZ the aircraft will be stuck there for a min of 4 days and if it blows on touchdown; it can do significant damage. They also inform me we have another aircraft in ZZZ. Based on the new information; we elected to return to ZZZ. We requested priority handling and following the landing with flat tire guidance in the QRH; we fuel jettisoned to our max landing weight. Landed on Runway XXL; stopped on the runway; Airport Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) inspected the landing gear; no issues were found; taxied to the gate. Runway XYR was in use; however it does not have an ILS. Selected Runway XXL for landing based on ILS; landing distance; and favorable winds. No issues. Crew coordination was very good with great input from all crew members for decision making.
