LIGHT SINGLE PLT OF SMA (Y) TAXIS IN FRONT OF SMA(X) ON RWY; ALTHOUGH CLRED TO POS BEHIND THAT ACFT.

Narrative

MY STUDENTS WERE DOING THEIR FIRST LESSONS ON SHORT FIELD TKOFS AND LNDGS FOR THEIR MULTIENG AIRPLANE RATING. ON THE SECOND FLT WE HELD SHORT OF RWY 9 AT FORT PIERCE; RPTED TO THE TWR WE WERE FIRST IN LINE AND REQUESTED A SHORT DELAY SO THE STUDENT FLYING COULD PRACTICE THE COMPLETE SHORT FIELD TKOF PROC; THAT BEING TO HOLD THE BRAKES; RUN UP THE ENGS TO FULL; CHK THE INSTS TO ENSURE THE PWR WAS GOOD; RELEASE THE BRAKES; AND COMMENCE THE TKOF. THE TWR DID CLR US INTO POS AND HOLD AND APPROVED THE SHORT DELAY. I NOTICED ANOTHER ACFT; SMA (Y) IN THE RUNUP AREA; AND HEARD THE TWR CLR THAT ACFT ONTO THE RWY BEHIND US IN SMA (X) INSTEAD TAXIED INTO POS IN FRONT OF OUR ACFT. THE TWR CANCELLED OUR TKOF CLRNC; REPEATING THE CANCELLATION TWICE; AND CLRED SMA (Y) FOR TKOF. AFTER SMA (Y) DEPARTED WE WERE GIVEN OUR TKOF CLRNC. ON THE FIRST DOWNWIND THE TWR APOLOGIZED FOR WHAT HAPPENED. PERHAPS THE OTHER ACFT WAS CONFUSED ABOUT THE CLRNC. I DID ASK MY STUDENTS IF; IN FACT; SMA (Y) WAS CLRED IN FRONT OF US. THEY THOUGHT NOT; AS DID I. THIS WAS A POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. MAYBE THE OTHER ACFT THOUGHT IT COULD SNEAK IN FRONT OF US. BUT HAD MY STUDENT RUN UP THE ENGS IN PREPARATION FOR THE TKOF AND RELEASED THE BRAKES; I MAY NOT BE HERE TODAY TYPING THIS RPT. THOUGH I AM NOT AN EXPERT IN RULES ENFORCEMENT IT APPEARED TO ME THE SMA (Y) TAXIED IN FRONT OF US WITHOUT A CLRNC TO DO SO. THE OTHER ACFT'S ACTIONS ALARMED MY STUDENTS. THEY ARE FROM ITALY; AND THE SITUATION CAUSED THEM TO UTTER FAMILIAR ITALIAN OBSCENITIES. THOUGH SUCH LANGUAGE IS GENERALLY UNCALLED FOR; IN THIS CASE IT WAS ENTIRELY APPROPRIATE AND I AGREE WITH THEIR SENTIMENTS ENTIRELY.
