COMMUTER ON VISUAL FAILS TO CONTACT TWR ON HDOF. LWOC.
Narrative
WE WERE CLRED FROM 9000 TO 2100 PLT'S DISCRETION. AFTER CALLING THE FIELD IN SIGHT WE WERE CLRED FOR A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 2. RWY 7 WAS ADVERTISED ON THE ATIS; THIS WAS NO PROBLEM TO SWITCH RWYS. SHORTLY AFTER BEING CLRED FOR THE VISUAL APCH WE WERE TURNED OVER TO THE TWR. AS THE PNF I SWITCHED FREQS AND PUT IN THE CORRECT TWR FREQ. THE FO WAS HAVING PROBLEMS MAINTAINING A STABILIZED APCH DUE TO THE TURB AND HIS RELATIVELY LOW EXPERIENCE IN THE ACFT. I NEGLECTED TO CALL THE TWR BECAUSE I WAS HELPING THE FO. AFTER LNDG AND TAXIING CLR IT BECAME IMMEDIATELY APPARENT TO US THAT WE LANDED WITHOUT A LNDG CLRNC. ONCE IN THE TERMINAL WE CALLED THE TWR AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM AS LONG AS WE REALIZED WHAT WE HAD DONE WRONG. OF COURSE WE HAD AND THE TWR SAID THAT THERE WOULD BE NO FOLLOW UP ACTION TAKEN. WITHOUT A DOUBT IT WAS MY FAULT! I SHOULD HAVE ASKED THE TWR AND HAD ONLY THE EXCUSE THAT I WAS HELPING THE FO WITH HIS LNDG. HOWEVER; THE TWR FREQ WAS SET UP AND YET THEY NEVER BOTHERED TO CALL US. THEY HAD TO SEE US COMING AND YET THEY NEVER TRIED TO CALL US. I BELIEVE THIS IS WRONG! THE TWR SHOULD HAVE CALLED US TO MAKE SURE WE WERE ON THEIR FREQ; BUT THEY NEVER DID.
