SMA PLT TOUCHES DOWN GEAR UP; MAKES A GAR; LANDS.

Narrative

RETURNING FROM SPARTANS SW PRACTICE AREA ON 2/92; I TUNED TO ATIS; 126.5 AND RECEIVED INFO HOTEL; ALTIMETER 2996; DP 34; TEMP 52; WINDS 270 AT 18 GUSTING 28. I THEN CALLED UP TULSA APCH AND WAS TOLD TO SQUAWK AND LAND STRAIGHT-IN FOR RWY 31. WHILE 5 MI SE OF RIVERSIDE ARPT I HAD BEGUN MY PRELNDG CHKLIST AND GUMPS CHK. I WAS THEN TOLD BY TULSA APCH TO CONTACT RIVERSIDE TWR. I CALLED THEM UP 1 MI S OF PWR PLANT; THEY CAME BACK AND CLRED ME TO LAND 31 ONE DEP PRIOR TO MY ARR. I THEN PULLED RPM BACK TO ABOUT 12 INCH MP AND ADDED FLAPS; FIRST 10 DEGS THEN 20 DEGS; DID MY FINAL GUMPS CHK. RVS THEN CLRED ME TO LAND 31. XING THE THRESHOLD AT 65 KTS I BEGAN TO FLARE. AS I WAS SETTLING ON THE RWY I HEARD THE BOTTOM OF THE PLANE TOUCH THE RWY; I THEN GAVE IT FULL PWR AND TOLD TWR I WAS GOING TO DO A GAR. THEY CLRED ME TO MAKE R TFC TURN THEN DO A LOW APCH TO VERIFY MY LNDG GEAR WAS DOWN. THEY REPLIED WITH 'LNDG GEAR APPEARS TO BE DOWN; CLRED TO LAND RWY 31.' I THEN AGAIN VERIFIED GUMPS; THIS TIME I VERIFIED MY LNDG GEAR WAS DOWN BY LOOKING OUT MY WINDOW AND GETTING THE GREEN LIGHT; I LANDED ON 31 WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. IT WAS MY FIRST SOLO IN AN SMA AND THE GUSTING WINDS HAD MORE OF MY ATTN ON FINAL THEN MY CHKLIST. I LEARNED HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO DO YOUR CHKLIST; ANYBODY CAN GO THROUGH IT AND READ IT BUT YOU MUST SEE YOURSELF DOING THE CHKLIST. IT WAS CONSIDERED MINOR DAMAGE BECAUSE I DID DO A GAR. THE PROP WAS GND OFF ABOUT 2 INCHES AND SOME ANTENNAS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE PLANE HAVE TO BE REPLACED.
