Synopsis
B737 MAX 8 air carrier flight crew reported an audible bang during taxi after landing. The Captain stopped the aircraft and called maintenance where the two main gear tires were deflated.
Narrative
After an uneventful landing on XXR; we got off on Taxiway 1. We made a left hand turn on to Taxiway 1 and received taxi instructions 'Taxi; Taxiway 1; Taxiway 2; Taxiway 3; hold short Taxiway 4; your gate is occupied.' After approximately 15-20 minutes holding short of Taxiway 4 we coordinated to get a new gate (originally gate XX); we were given gate XY. Ground cleared us 'Taxi Taxiway 4 to the ramp'; as we made a left from Taxiway 3 onto Taxiway 4; approximately 1/2-3/4 into the left hand turn onto Taxiway 4 we heard an audible bang/pop. I said 'I think a tire just blew'. Captain brought the aircraft to a stop. We coordinated with ground to have operations take a look at our aircraft. After a brief investigation from operations personnel they informed us that we had two flat tires on the right side of the aircraft. Maintenance was dispatched to our aircraft and confirmed the two blown tires. After coordination we shutdown the aircraft and turned it over to maintenance. Cause: No human causal factors to mention. Airplane landed in two hot environments ZZZ1 100deg+ followed by ZZZ 90deg+. Causal factor may have been the fuse plugs blew the tires due to excessive heat or a sensor that detected heat. Suggestions: Until Maintenance finds the cause not sure what can be done.
Second reporter narrative
After uneventful landing at ZZZ; aircraft was taxied to a hold spot to await gate. Approximately 20 minutes later we were cleared to taxi to gate. During taxi a loud bang was heard from right side of aircraft. Noticeable grinding was felt and aircraft was immediately stopped. Ground control and company were informed of aircraft issue. Flight crew was informed by ground personnel both right main landing gear were deflated. Possible high temperatures at departure field (ZZZ1 +110deg F) and arrival field(ZZZ +102deg F) combined with long taxi times.
