Narrative
APCHING VNY AREA FROM MAMMOTH; GETTING VFR ADVISORIES. JOSHUA; THE THEN CTLING FACILITY; CALLED TFC AT 9 O'CLOCK. SPOTTED TFC AT 8 O'CLOCK; A LARGE AIR CARRIER TYPE. ACKNOWLEDGED SEEING TFC AND HE ACKNOWLEDGED SEEING ME. BUT; CTLR ASKED ME TO MAINTAIN 8500; WHICH I DID. AFTER TFC PASSED UNDERNEATH ME; I ADVISED ATC BUT ATC INSISTED I MAINTAIN 8500. THEN ATC CANCELLED ADVISORY SVC BUT BY THEM; I WAS OVER 8000' AND APCHING BUR AIRSPACE. UNABLE TO REACH BUR BY RADIO BECAUSE WE WERE HIGH AND FAST; DSNDING TO 6000'. BY THE TIME WE COULD REACH BUR; WE WERE NEAR VNY ARPT. I HAD TO CIRCLE WAY W TO LOSE ALT. I NOTIFIED BUR CTLR THAT WE HAD ARPT IN SIGHT AND TURNED TOWARDS VNY; STILL DSNDING. CTLR KEPT GIVING ADVISORIES; INCLUDING TFC IN VNY PATTERN BUT FAILED TO RELEASE US OR HAND US OFF TO VNY TWR. REQUESTED TO TURN TO DOWNWIND FOR RWY 34 BUT CTLR TOLD ME TO TURN TO HDG OF 360 DEGS - THE OPPOSITE OF VNY TFC! I REFUSED BECAUSE OF OBVIOUS DANGER; THEN AGREED TO TURN N ONLY OVER THE RWY. I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE BUR CTLR WAS SO INSISTENT IN TRYING TO REQUIRE AN UNSAFE MANEUVER.
