Synopsis

Challenger flight crew reported an engine failure while descending on arrival. The crew requested priority handling and landed safely.

Narrative

Descending through 13000 ft. on the ZZZZZ arrival into ZZZ; 280 KIAS; and engine power just above idle. L ENG Full Authority Digital Electronic Control (FADEC) Fail Crew Alert System (CAS) message appeared; the left engine rolled back to an idle setting and would not respond to any thrust lever inputs. We [requested priority handling] with ZZZ; discontinued arrival; and leveled off at 11000 ft. and got radar vectors for a holding pattern. We ran the L ENG FADEC Fail (with engine at idle) check list in the QRH which then directed us to the 'Landing with one engine inoperative' checklist. We completed all checklists; briefed up conditions and elected to get vectors to the ILS Runway XX at ZZZ since we were already setup and briefed for that and it was close. I then briefed the passengers on the condition. We then commenced with vectors to the ILS Runway XX with the crash/rescue team standing by as a precaution. Approach and landing were uneventful and we taxied to the FBO and cancelled the priority.

Second reporter narrative
