ACR WDB EXPERIENCES DAMAGE TO ACFT AFTER NOSE GEAR COMES DOWN HARD WHILE LNDG AT CJU.
Narrative
I WAS THE PNF; FO; ON THE ACR WDB FOLLOWING A NORMAL FLT AND VOR/DME APCH TO RWY 24 AT CHEJU ARPT AT SEOUL; WE TOUCHED DOWN ON THE 1000 FT MARKER ON RWY 24. THE ACFT WAS ALIGNED DOWN THE CTRLINE AFTER THE CAPT TOOK OUT THE CRAB FOR A STRONG XWIND FROM THE R (310 22 KTS). THE MAIN WHEELS TOUCHED DOWN NORMALLY AND DID NOT LEAVE THE GND. THE SPDBRAKE DEPLOYED AND THE REVERSERS WERE UNLOCKED BY THE CAPT. THE NOSE WHEEL THEN CONTACTED THE RWY EXTREMELY HARD. BRAKING WAS THEN APPLIED AND WE TURNED THE ACFT AROUND AND TAXIED TO THE RAMP AREA WHERE THE DAMAGE TO THE ACFT WAS NOTICED AROUND THE FUSELAGE IN FRONT OF THE WING LEADING EDGE. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE FLYING FOR A FOREIGN CARRIER UNDER KOREAN LICENSING REGS AND THE ACFT KOREAN REGISTERED. I FIND IT HARD TO EXPLAIN THE OCCURRENCE; ESPECIALLY THE DAMAGE CAUSED TO THE ACFT. THERE APPEARED TO BE AN EXISTING PROBLEM WITH THE ACFT MAYBE CAUSED BY PREVIOUS HARD LNDGS WHICH WENT UNRPTED; OR MAYBE WRONG WT AND BAL INFO. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 203152. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO AN AREA OF FUSELAGE MIDWAY BTWN LEADING EDGE OF WING AND NOSE GEAR. AROUND BODY IT WAS TWISTED AND SOME SKIN TORN IN A 2-3 FT BAND AROUND THE FUSELAGE. THE APCH WAS MADE DURING VISUAL CONDITIONS WITH A 22 KT R (90 DEG) XWIND AND LIGHT GUSTS BUT NO WIND SHEAR RPTED. RWY DRY. CRAB MANEUVER USED DOWN TO ABOUT 150 FT WHERE R WING DOWN SLIP EMPLOYED TO ALIGN ACFT WITH RWY AT TOUCH DOWN. SINK RATE NORMAL REF +5 KTS TO A NORMAL FIRM MAIN GEAR TOUCH DOWN THE NOSE HUNG (HESITATED) MOMENTARILY THEN PITCHED DOWN AT AN UNSEEMINGLY UNCTLABLE RATE WITH HARD IMPACT OF NOSE GEAR AND A L R MOMENT. THE NOSE HELD DOWN FULL CTL STICK NORMAL REVERSE AND BRAKING THEN APPLIED. THERE WERE UNUSUAL NOISES DURING TAXI CLRING RWY.
