MECH REMOVES FIRE EXTINGUISHER FOR REPAIR. ACFT DEPARTS WITHOUT FIRE EXTINGUISHER. RETURN LAND.
Narrative
DURING PREFLT OF ACFT AN OPEN LOGBOOK WRITE-UP NOTICED CONCERNING CABIN FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND HOLDING BRACKET. MAINT TOOK EXTINGUISHER TO HANGAR AREA AND WAS TO RETURN WITH A REPLACEMENT. PAX WERE LOADED ONTO THE ACFT AND WT/BAL MANIFEST PAPERS WERE COMPLETED. SCHEDULED TIME FOR DEP ARRIVED AND BOTH CREW MEMBERS FORGOT ABOUT THE REPLACEMENT FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND THE UNRESOLVED LOGBOOK ENTRY. WE TAXIED AND WERE CLRED FOR TKOF. DEN TWR TOLD US TO CONTACT DEP AND THAT OUR COMPANY HAD TRIED TO REACH US ON THE GND UNSUCCESSFULLY AND THAT WE SHOULD RADIO THEM. UPON CONTACTING COMPANY WE WERE TOLD TO DO AN AIR RETURN TO RESOLVE THE EXTINGUISHER PROBLEM. CREW WAS MONITORING COMPANY FREQ AS PER OUR F.O.M.; HOWEVER VOLUME HAD BEEN REDUCED BUT STILL AT AN AUDIBLE LEVEL. IT IS MY OPINION THAT THE GND TIME IN DENVER BTWN OUR INBOUND FLT AND THE ABORTED FLT WAS INSUFFICIENT TO POST FLT AND CHANGE ACFT. WITH THE REQUIRED PREFLT OF NEW ACFT; COCKPIT SET UP AND WX REVIEW REQUIRED FOR NEXT FLT TOO MUCH PRESSURE FOR AN ON TIME DEP I BELIEVE WAS PARTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR MY OCCUPANCE.
