Synopsis

A330 flight crew reported inflight engine fire. Flight crew returned to departure airport and performed an overweight landing.

Narrative

Good day; to report what happened on Aircraft X on Day 0. Upon arrival at the aircraft; we received a maintenance log report from the previous crew regarding a low oil level in IDG (Integrated Drive Generator) 2. The cockpit configuration indicated that it had been disconnected; and Maintenance was working on the report.Upon receiving the cleared log good for service; Maintenance in ZZZZ informed us that the 'Disc' indication on the EWD and the OFF light on the upper panel would reset upon engine start. After engine start; both indications remained unchanged; so we decided to continue the flight with the APU running; following the company's MEL applicability policy.During the initial climb; the temperature value in IDG 2 began to increase; regardless of its disconnected state on the cockpit indications. We carried out the procedure that led us to disconnect IDG 2 again as the temperature continued to rise. The engine 2 fire alarm activated shortly thereafter; prompting us to [request priority handling] and return to land at ZZZ Airport. The landing was made with an overweight landing procedure as required.I remain available for any questions that may arise and would like to express my gratitude for the support received.
