FO RPTR OBJECTED TO CAPT ACCEPTING FERRY FLT RELEASE WITH ACFT EQUIP PROBLEM THAT WAS APPARENTLY NOT AUTHORIZED UNDER THE GUIDELINES OF THE MEL REQUIREMENT.

Narrative

AT OMA WE WERE TO GO TO DSM-DFW-PIT. CREW FROM DFW BROUGHT INTO OMA ACFT WHICH THEY WROTE UP 'GEAR DOOR OPEN LIGHT' ON DURING FLT THROUGH LNDG AND ARR AT GATE. THIS WAS THE THIRD MAINT DISCREPANCY ON THIS ITEM WITHIN ABOUT A WEEK. TULSA WAS NOTIFIED BY CONTRACT MAINT PERSONNEL. 'BITE' CHK REVEALED L GEAR DOOR SWITCH MALFUNCTION. NEEDED TO BE CHANGED TO FIX PROBLEM. MEL REQUIRES ALL GEAR LIGHTS AND WARNING SYS (EXCEPT VERBAL) TO BE OPERATING 'ALWAYS.' FTW DISPATCH SENT FERRY AUTHORIZATION FOR 1 TIME FLT OMA-DFW WITH GEAR DOOR LIGHT 'ON.' I BROUGHT TO CAPT'S ATTN THE MEL REQUIRES ALL GEAR WARNING LIGHTS AND HORNS ARE REQUIRED TO BE OPERATIONAL ALL THE TIME. NO EXCEPTIONS ARE LISTED IN MEL (I.E.; FERRY FLTS). HE TOLD ME 'WE'RE GOING!' I FELT I HAD DONE ALL I COULD DO TO ADVISE HIM ABOUT THE PERCEIVED ERROR THAT FTW DISPATCH AND TULSA TECH WERE AUTHORIZING A FLT WITH AN INOP SYS WHICH IS 'ALWAYS REQUIRED' BY OUR MEL. I FURTHER ASKED HIM IF WE WERE GOING TO USE THE QRH PROC UPON LNDG AT DFW. HE SAID HE WOULD CHK WITH DFW MAINT. AFTER WE LANDED; WE TAXIED INTO PARK. NO QRH PROCS WERE ACCOMPLISHED. NO DAMAGE OR GEAR DOORS WERE OPEN UPON ARR AT PARKING LOCATION. I DON'T FEEL THAT THE ACFT SHOULD HAVE BEEN OPERATED WITH THE GEAR DOOR OPEN LIGHT ON PER THE MEL.
