A Flight Attendant reported their flight diverted due to extremely hot temperatures on the flight deck.
Synopsis
A Flight Attendant reported their flight diverted due to extremely hot temperatures on the flight deck.
Narrative
Worked a flight from which should have been ZZZ1 to ZZZ2 during the early minutes but after take-off we incurred a inflight emergency the flight deck was over heating and at the time of landing it reached the temperature of 170 degrees having to divert to ZZZ. We landed without issue and we were met with fire trucks thank god we were okay. After de planing we were walked to our new gate and the supervisor did a great job at the time they asked if we had knowledge if it was [a request for priority handling] and I said no and the Captain said it was. I did not have direct from them during the flight that it was; Supervisor said that that was not uncommon and we were offered coffee to which seemed genuine at the time and we had a brand new plane and flight deck officers. The pilots were not given the flight number or plan yet and said that we will board later to take a breather because we had a lot going on and they wanted to make sure we were all okay and safety checks were thoroughly completed. The Gate Agent said they would check to see when we were ready to board and I looked to my left and passengers were boarding before the okay from anyone. I am unaware of the time stamp but it was very soon after we checked in to the aircraft. We stopped passengers. I let the Captain know and they were upset and said they had not still not been given the flight plan or anything they were just thrown on the flight and needed just a little time to brief us because we were already delayed. There was no need to rush boarding. Also we did not have one cart on board; which typically boarding should not delay because of that but we had time and wiggle room to take a breath. I was unable to contact my worried family members and do our checks. As I asked for passengers to wait until we had confirmation on why boarding was starting; I was met with the accusation that I specifically was holding boarding and that was not the actual situation. We were actually boarding prior to the Captain and myself's acknowledgment. I just wanted clarity so that everyone was on the same page. The passengers had already been through enough and sitting on a plane that was not ready was not the best solution for anyone. Communication was very off. After I was met with the accusations things escalated very quickly and I did not feel supported as I did when I was immediately met with plane side when I landed. I felt like the coffee was a bribery for me to take so that we were comfortable with rush boarding and a quick departure. I became overwhelmed and needed support on what to do so I called the union to see what my options were. I initially just wanted a little time to breathe that was all I was asking for and I was met with a supervisor that told me I was prepared for these incidences and they didn't see the problem and that I needed to choose a different career if I couldn't handle it. I immediately became so overwhelmed and I was overcome with emotions at that point I realized I no longer felt okay to work the flight. I called Crew Scheduling and spoke to someone from the ZZZ team and was asked what was going on and I was cut off over and over during my conversation so much that I asked them if they were telling my story for me or if they truly cared about what I was saying. It was very overwhelming. I did not refuse to fly I was unfit to fly and I was bullied and threatened with a missed trip and I did not agree. I just was no longer able to focus. I was crying and it was no longer safe for me to fly. I had a replacement on board at the time and I walked off the plane.
